Meet Our Pastor
Bro. Joe Foster has been the Pastor of Bethel Tabernacle since the spring of 1998, after serving as Assistant Pastor at Green Cove Springs Congregational Holiness Church.
Bro. Joe has an incredible testimony that he shares with the church and any who will listen. His wife and children prayed for him to be saved for several years. He would feel the tug of conviction at every Christmas play and Easter service, yet he never yielded to God's drawing. On July 4, 1989, he had his 5 year old son, Michael, with him riding a four-wheeler across the road, through a ditch, which he had done several times. This time was different. When he went to cross the ditch, the four-wheeler flipped backwards and hit him across the face. Once he lifted it off enough, it came back and popped him in the face again, breaking his teeth and his jaw. Bro. Joe said, "I could feel the darkness of death all around me, and the Lord spoke to me and said 'You are lost without me!'" Upon arrival to the hospital, while laying on a stretcher going into shock, he prayed, "Lord if you'll get me out of this mess, I'll serve you the rest of my days." Instantly, he felt a peace and knew if he lived or died, he had been forgiven of his sins and had his name written in the Lambs Book of Life. Apart from being Pastor, Bro. Joe teaches the Adult Sunday School Class. He is an outstanding teacher and preacher. His wife, Sis. Delores, is the most dedicated Pastor's wife you will meet. She not only helps Bro. Joe, but she teaches the Junior Sunday School Class (6 to 12 years old), directs Children's Church, and is director of the Church Cleaning Committee. |
